Spotlight on Cromwell's export success

Cromwell has been spotlighted as an example of a successful exporter in a new report from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and accountants BDO.
The title of the report is 'Go Your Own Way - an MSB guide to the journey from non-exporter to global business'. It says the untapped overseas trade potential of Mid-Sized Businesses (MSBs) could be worth £20 billion and cites Cromwell as an example of what can be achieved.

Sharing the company's experience, Cromwell International Trade Manager David Gollings advises new exporters to "make sure it is planned well, that you have the patience for things to happen, and that you are in it for the long term. Exporting takes time to build but it is worth the journey."

Cromwell has also been featured in the pages of local newspaper, the Leicester Mercury, which reported on the opening of the company's new Indonesia office. The article quotes Cromwell Managing Director Michael Kerins who says, "We are already established in South East Asia - we have been in China, Thailand, Malaysia and India since the late 1990s.  Now we will be operational in Indonesia with a fully functioning branch serving local businesses and joint ventures operating out there."

Michael Kerins also has the following advice for new exporters: "Overseas trade is not easy. You can't sit at home sending out e-mails, you have to go out there to do it, and the rewards are there because there's a demand for British businesses and products."

New Office opens in Indonesia

Cromwell opens new office in China

Cromwell is proud to announce the opening of a second office in China. Already based in the south of the country in Shanghai, the company is now expanding its operations into the northeast with a new office in Shenyang, the region's largest city with a population of over eight million.

An important industrial centre, Shenyang is the spearhead of the Chinese government's Northeast Area Revitalisation Plan where more and more factories and investment are being moved, built or centred in the north and interior of the country.

The new office will significantly enhance the Cromwell profile in this dynamic industrial region. It will bring the company and its products closer to customers and enable a higher degree of service and responsiveness to market demands.

Cromwell gains further international trade recognition

In 2010 Cromwell won the overall winner of the East Midlands International Business of the Year Award for increasing global sales by over 35 per cent in the previous year.


Now in recognition of our continued success we have been listed in the “2012 International Top Track 200” (fastest growing export business’ in the region) with sales having increased from £18.4M in 2009 to £28.2M in 2011, and on target for £32.5M in 2012.

Cromwell continues investment

BRC Following the building acquisition in 2011 Cromwell is pleased to announce the completion of its NEW "Bulk Receiving Centre" in Whetstone, Leicestershire, located less than 5 miles away from the "World Distribution Centre".

This new state of the art 165,000 square feet facility creates a bulk storage facility housing 18,500 high bay pallet spaces and 2,360 low bay pallet spaces to store circa £11 million pounds of stock. This stock will support the pick face operation within the existing "World Distribution Centre" and demonstrates Cromwell┬┤s continued commitment to investing in customers through ex-stock availability of the product offered in the Industrial Supplies Catalogue that contains some 65,000 line items. Stock investment has now passed the £58 million pound mark to give our end users customers and distributors around the World "Total Confidence" in Cromwell's ability to be their "Complete Industrial Supply Company" providing high quality products and services at competitive prices.


Cromwell expands it's operation in Uganda

Cromwell has appointed Mr Chris Kayondo as their full time representative in Uganda. Chris joins the company having worked for one of our long standing independent partners for many years and the appointment shows our continued commitment to developing business in Uganda and on the African continent generally.

Cromwell's presence in Africa now includes our Regional Hub in South Africa, Sales Representatives permanently based in Uganda and Ethiopia, and Sales Representatives from the UK supporting our partners in countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique and Kenya to name just a few.
